Method
Prepare the Base
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
- Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
Add Topping
- Remove the base from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Spread the caramel sauce evenly over the baked base.
- Sprinkle shredded coconut on top of the caramel layer.
- If using, sprinkle chocolate chips over the coconut.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
- Serve and enjoy your caramel coconut bars!
