Ingredients
  

Base
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Caramel Coconut Topping
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Method
 

Prepare the Base
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
Add Topping
  1. Remove the base from the oven and let it cool slightly.
  2. Spread the caramel sauce evenly over the baked base.
  3. Sprinkle shredded coconut on top of the caramel layer.
  4. If using, sprinkle chocolate chips over the coconut.
  5. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Cool and Serve
  1. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
  2. Serve and enjoy your caramel coconut bars!
