Method
Prepare the Puff Pastry
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases.
Assemble the Stacks
- Cut the puff pastry into 8 equal squares.
- On half of the squares, layer 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese.
- Top with the remaining pastry squares and press the edges to seal.
Apply Egg Wash
- In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg with water to create an egg wash.
- Brush the tops of the pastry stacks with the egg wash.
Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
