Ingredients
  

Puff Pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed if frozen
Filling
  • 8 slices ham thinly sliced
  • 8 slices cheese Swiss or cheddar
Egg Wash
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1 tablespoon water

Method
 

Prepare the Puff Pastry
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to smooth out any creases.
Assemble the Stacks
  1. Cut the puff pastry into 8 equal squares.
  2. On half of the squares, layer 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of cheese.
  3. Top with the remaining pastry squares and press the edges to seal.
Apply Egg Wash
  1. In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg with water to create an egg wash.
  2. Brush the tops of the pastry stacks with the egg wash.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
