Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 500 grams bread flour high protein content
  • 350 ml water room temperature
  • 10 grams salt sea salt preferred
  • 7 grams instant yeast or active dry yeast
  • 15 grams sugar optional, for flavor
Topping
  • 1 tablespoon flour for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon water for steam in oven

Method
 

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add the water while mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
  1. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls
  1. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface.
  2. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
  3. Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.
Second Rise
  1. Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat and Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F).
  2. Just before baking, make a small slash on top of each roll and dust with flour.
  3. Place a small oven-safe dish with water in the oven to create steam.
  4. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
Cool and Serve
  1. Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
