Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon milk optional for glaze

Method
 

Prepare the Oven and Pan
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.
Mix the Batter
  1. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.
  2. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
Bake the Brownies
  1. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  3. Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper.
Serve
  1. Dust the cooled brownies with powdered sugar before cutting them into squares.
  2. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
