Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
Cheese Sauce
  • 2 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp mustard powder
Topping
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 tbsp butter melted

Method
 

Cook Pasta
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make Cheese Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  2. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, salt, pepper, and mustard powder until smooth.
Combine and Bake
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta and cheese sauce. Mix well.
  2. Transfer to a greased baking dish. In a small bowl, mix bread crumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add cooked bacon or vegetables to the mixture before baking.
