- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

- In another bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, lemon juice, vanilla, and lemon zest.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Pour batter into the baking dish and spread evenly.
- Pour water gently over the batter.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and edges are bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving.
