Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz spaghetti uncooked
Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes 28 oz
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
Cheese Mixture
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1 large egg
Topping
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded

Method
 

Cook Spaghetti
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare Meat Sauce
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
  2. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Mix Cheese Mixture
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and egg. Mix until well combined.
Assemble the Dish
  1. In a baking dish, layer half of the cooked spaghetti, followed by half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers.
  2. Top with remaining shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
