Method
Prepare the Oven and Pan
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Make the Brownie Batter
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until combined.
- Add eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the red food coloring until the batter is evenly colored.
Prepare the Cream Cheese Swirl
- In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Combine and Bake
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan. Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the batter, then add the remaining brownie batter on top.
- Use a knife or spatula to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares and serve.
