Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Filling
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice about 2-3 lemons
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

Method
 

Prepare the crust
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, flour, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  2. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
Make the filling
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar and flour. Add eggs, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Mix until smooth.
Bake the lemon bars
  1. Pour the filling over the baked crust. Bake for an additional 20 minutes until set.
  2. Remove from oven and let cool completely before cutting into squares.
