Ingredients

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
Filling
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Filling
  1. In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic, parsley, basil, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.
Shape the Bread
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, then pinch the seams to seal.
  5. Place the rolled dough seam-side down in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Bread
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
